briano

Yesterday a friend of mine, Brian Ostram, passed away. We worked together for many, many long days and nights at Netscape. If you use a Netscape browser on Unix, then you owe a great deal to Brian. He was a tireless soldier in the struggle to support Unix and to ensure the web would be an open place for everyone.

Without Brian, there would be no Navigator for Linux, no Navigator for MkLinux, Sinix, BSDI, IRIX 5.X, etc, etc, etc.. Brian personally ported Navigator to most of the Unix platforms out there. He didn't do it because somebody told him to (mostly he was being told the opposite). He did it because you wanted it, and because it was a way he could help.

Through his work, Brian helped a lot of people, but he was also just a really great guy, and I'm going to miss him an awful lot.

Rest in peace Briano, though your years were not so many, you managed to do a lot of good, and you made the world quite a bit better for you having been on it.
