Introduction

Palm devices have always had the ability to display 2 bit gray scale, but only with the Palm III and later models was there any support in the operating system for gray. Gray Toggle is trivial little app the toggles the Palm screen depth between 1 bit (monochrome) and 2 bit (4 levels of gray). Apps from Palm and some other vendors provide application icons in both 1 bit and 2 bit form, so switching the screen depth gives you a different image from the application launcher, like so:
